Enbridge Gas Distribution offers housing providers free energy-efficiency upgrades to social housing units – single family homes or multi-residential buildings – throughout their franchise area*.

These include professionally installed energy saving measures such as low flow showerheads and heat reflector panels which are installed behind radiators and baseboard convectors improving heating efficiency and resident comfort at no cost to the housing provider. This program is part of an ongoing effort by Enbridge Gas to help its customers reduce the use of natural gas and lower energy bills.

Energy-Efficiency Upgrades include:

FREE SHOWERHEADS

Low flow showerheads use less hot water, saving energy and reducing natural gas costs. These showerheads are available free of charge and are installed by an Enbridge Gas service provider.

FREE HEAT REFLECTOR PANELS

Many residents have radiators or baseboard convectors to provide home heating. These types of heating systems heat the home, but at the same time heat the exterior wall. This means less heat going into the home, impacting comfort and energy use in the winter time.

The free heat reflector panels offer from Enbridge Gas is an easy and effective way to reduce that heat loss. Heat reflector panels are easily installed behind the radiator or baseboard convector. They reflect up to 90% of the heat that is being wasted through the exterior wall back into the room, providing improved comfort to the residents while reducing the heating bill.

FREE INSULATION AND DRAFT-PROOFING

Single family, semi-detached and row housing units built before 1980 may be eligible for free insulation, airsealing and draft-proofing through Enbridge Gas’ Home Winterproofing Program. Free home assessments are required to determine building eligibility. Improved home insulation can save up to 30% of energy use.

Engaging Residents

In addition to the quick energy savings opportunities this program provides, empowering residents through education can also help improve and manage costs over the long run. Be one of many housing providers that have had great success by involving their residents in saving energy, reducing operating costs and taking part in environmental sustainability.  For housing providers interested in hosting a resident engagement program, Enbridge Gas can provide coaching and support materials to get you on your way.

*Energy efficiency programs are available only to program eligible Enbridge Gas customers.
