Winter is coming: Join us for a webinar

woman on phoneWith a growing demand for training, ONPHA is proud to announce we will be running another series of live webinars focusing on various topics critical to our members. As usual, ONPHA’s webinars are FREE for housing members and offered at a discounted rate to associate and municipal members!

In between November and March, members can register and attend ONPHA’s live webinars on the following topics:

  • Nov. 17 – 10-11 am – Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (for boards)
    By January 1st, 2016, all non-profits in Ontario are required to have all staff and boards trained on the AODA and the Ontario Human Rights Code. Meet your training obligations and learn what else the AODA requires in this session. This webinar is geared towards non-profit housing boards.
  • Dec. 3 – 2-3 pm – Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (for staff)

  • Dec. 8 – 12-1pm – Governance
    How can board members excel at governance? Good governance is an active process, this webinar presents the tools and strategies you can use to help your organization stay on track while providing safe and affordable housing. This means understanding the Board’s roles and responsibilities in finance, law, planning and policy.
  • Jan. 12 – 2-3 pm – Annual RGI reviews (for HSA housing providers) – Getting what you need
    Annual RGI reviews can be frustrating and time consuming. Learn how to make your work easier from an experienced RGI housing professional. This webinar will cover best practices on communicating clearly in forms and notices, collecting and verifying income and household composition, and complying with your service agreement.
  • Jan. 20 – 12-1 pm – Getting grants: Where do I begin?
    Do you want to support your organization by finding additional resources but don’t know where to start? This webinar will introduce you to the basics of grant sourcing and writing. Anne Morais is a seasoned and talented fundraiser and grant writer who is passionate about helping you succeed!
  • Feb. 9 – 12-1pm – Looking forward: Planning for changes in leadership
    Has it been a challenge to recruit new board members? This webinar will provide you with step-by-step information and tools to create and implement a simple, effective board succession plan. From creating a structure to identifying and recruiting, you will take away a checklist of activities that will help ensure stability in your organization’s governance duties.
  • March 8 – 2-3 pm – The ups and downs of quarterly reporting (for HSA housing providers)
    When a tenant receiving RGI subsidies has a fluctuating income, it is not just about the RGI rules. It’s also about asking the right questions and using your discretion.

What is a webinar? A webinar is an online and interactive forum where members can view a presentation in realtime on the computer screen while hearing from the presenter over the phone. Members can participate without leaving the office or home and ask the presenter questions directly.

Registration is available online. Last year, 300 people took part in our webinars and we expect even more this year!
